> Minimoto - getting started
Minimoto are one of the least dangerous forms of road racing and they are great fun for both kids (as young as 6 years old) and adults alike and if minimotos were good enough to help world MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi get started in racing there must be something in them!
Minimotos are also a relatively inexpensive to purchase and run, and because of their compact size (approximately 20" x 36") are easy to carry around (no transit van required).

The performance of these little bikes does vary. The Minimotos for kiddies and novices have little 37cc engines which can knock out a tame 4 bhp, while the more serious experienced racers opt for tuned 50cc engines outputing 12.5 bhp which will enable the minimoto to top 75 mph, cripes!

Compared to other forms of motorsport it is very easy to get involved in minimoto racing. Many of the larger bike shows and motorcycle events have events set up on temporary tracks or in car parks where minimotos can be hired. If you find that experience thrilling and would like to get involved in racing, you could contact one of the minimoto organisors listed below to obtain information on acquiring a bike and finding a race series near you.
