Although the seat of our pursang wasn't a total disaster, nothing looks worse than a repainted bike with a ripped seat, plus we noticed that the base of the seat was cracking badly, so we decided to refurbish the entire seat.

	The current seat cover was obviously aftermarket and held together with gaffer tape at the back. The seat has a fibreglass base onto which the cover is simply glued.
	The seat was removed easily and we then set about removing all the old adhesive and paint with some stripper and a knife. We also drilled out the rivets on the mounting loop and removed it for painting - it also made repairing the cracks easier
	Luckily the foam was in good condition. As we found with the RM seat, recovering a knackered foam is a waste of time.
	Close inspection of the base revealed lots of small cracks, particularly around the back of the bike. We cleaned these up with sandpaper and a wire brush to make sure that the surface went back to the correct shape. We then set about using our Fibreglass repair kit.
	The kit consisted of new fibre mat and resin/hardener. First cut the fibre mat to the appropriate shape.
	Then mix up the resin and hardener., apply the resin to the base and then lay the mat over it...Once the mat is in place you then apply more resin to it
	This is what happens when you use too much hardener - the resin dries too quickly and you can't work it into the mat...oh how we laughed
	This is how it should look, working the resin thoroughly into the mat making sure that it is completely covered, particularly at the edges...
	And here is the finished job, don't worry this can't be seen once the foam in on.
	Having repaired the base, we had to refit the holding loop, this meant redrilling the holes as most of the cracks were around the original mounting holes. When refitting the bar we used small nuts and bolts as opposed to the original rivets - make sure that you use big washers/plates so that the bolt or rivet doesn't pull directly on the fibreglass as it will crack when used...
	And here is the repaired base, with mounting loop refitted and with the edges gaffer taped to avoid chaffing on the new seat cover...
	To fit the cover simply slide in the foam and base and get the best possible fit before flipping the seat over and applying a generous quantity of glue to the base and the cover, use the best impact adhesive you can find
	Once the glue has started to cure, simply press the cover down on to the base, working methodically around the base - we did the back, then the front, then the sides and it gave a reasonable result. Work any air out of the joint and wipe of any excess glue
	Hey, ho that's it (after a few tweaks) - the main problem that we had was that the seat cover was for a MK10 250/370 from MXM - sadly this doesn't exactly fit the 125, which does not have the rear sides of the seat cut down like the 250/370. When we realised this MXM offered to cover the seat themselves, but we decided to go with the cover as it did work, it just has a strange seam down the side
