>Project RM125: Cleaning the Bike

Now if you suffer from OCD (compulsive hand washing etc) then cleaning a cacky dirt bike may light your candle. Sadly this is the really dull part, but we will tackle it like men...

Removing Algae and corroded alloy
Having stripped the bike down to its various component parts we had to set about cleaning all the various bits and pieces. Now each different material (alloy, steel etc) benefits from different treatments as do components of different sizes...

and here's the plan...
1 Get a Bike...
2 Strip It
3 Clean it
4 Paint it
5 Seat
6 Engine
7 Frame and Suspension
8 Test it
9 Race it
The costs so far...
What we learnt this time...
I hate cleaning bike bits. We can't afford a beadblaster or a fancy parts cleaner so its just a question of elbow grease. If you want a top notch job you might be better off taking the bits down to a blast cleaning place, but this is a dirt bike and it ain't going to be worth a fortune when its finished so some household products and a bit of elbow grease are the order of the day.
